As you are enjoying your annual Memorial Day Weekend and looking forward to time off from work (for those who are lucky), please remember why this holiday is celebrated.
No it’s not to enjoy those grilled hot dogs or splash in the water since the heat has finally hit. It’s to remember the ones who gave their lives defending our country: The United States of America.
A part of me wishes that this holiday would be silent, more respectful of the families who were left to mourn or the friends who can no longer talk to their buddy. But then another part of me understands that the day should be enjoyed because I’m sure that’s what the soldiers, warriors, and fighters would’ve wanted.
So as you sit sipping your lemonade and watching the kids play, know that while you enjoy this country’s freedoms, a veteran can no longer and their family is left without their hero to celebrate with.
Thank you to all the Veterans for your service and sacrifice.
