We recently took a trip from Spokane, Washington to Seattle and then to Vancouver, British Columbia.
My parents were in town visiting us so we wanted to visit somewhere they would enjoy while we were in Seattle. My dad is a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a major history buff when it comes to wars or aviation so we decided to visit the Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum.
It is located in Everett, WA about 30 minutes from Pike Place Market in Seattle and our hotel that we stayed – La Quinta Lynnwood Washington was only about 10 to 15 minutes from the museum. Side note: this hotel was very fair-priced compared to others closer into town and gave a military discount as well.
The Flying Heritage Museum started out with only airplanes but then incorporated tankers and other cool features to make it the Combat Armor Museum as well.
They have a large show room of airplanes and tankers that they actually pull out of the hanger to fly or drive. There are only 3 rare classics that they do not fly or take out of the museum.
While we visited they had some things under construction in the very last hanger (there are 3 total) but it didn’t take away from our experience!
There is another aviation museum called The Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA and they have space features as well as a lot of Boeing aviation pieces. This was our second choice to visit but given the museum we visited had history especially regarding the military, we thought it would better fit our interests!
Since we only passed through Seattle we did not have time to visit much of anything but if we make a return visit my bucket list would be:
- Pike Place Market
- The Gum Wall
- The Seattle Aquarium
- The Space Needle
- The Museum of Flight
- Olympic National Park
My dad and husband went to a baseball game while we were in Seattle but me, Jett, and my mom stayed at the hotel for his bedtime at 8!
The weather in Seattle was a little unpredictable with rain or chilly wind so if you are traveling there, especially in Spring bring a coat and umbrella just in case!
